3rd Bosphorus Bridge
Istanbul | Turkey
This bridge is considered as the future of transportation and commerce for Turkey, linking Europe and Asia. With a main span of 1’408 m, the bridge will be a breakdown record for the world longest span for railway bridges. Carrying 8 lanes of motorway and 2 lanes of railway on a single level deck, it will also be one of the widest deck with its 59 m of width.
Apart from having the tallest concrete pylon in the world, the bridge will also be a modern application of a combined cable system between a traditional suspension system and a cable stayed system.
Our users create, plan and finalise tailor-made and individual projects with SOFiSTiK software on a daily basis and bring to life smaller as well as large-scale construction projects. We are happy that our users continuously share these projects on social media and give insight into the broad field of application of SOFiSTiK products and solution.
Building Design
Ulstein Church
Ulstein | Norway
Emphasising the typical open space of a church, integrating the structure in the natural terrain of the location and timber as the primary building material are the key aspects of the church project.
With the key aspects in mind, it was on Degree of Freedom finding the best strategy to take the Architects vision to reality. Felice will take you through the faced challenges, particularly the static concept of the multi-purpose circular timber frame structure.
Tunneling / Geotechnics
Underground Parking
Schlieren | Switzerland
The Migros Cooperative as the client demanded BIM and offered the architects from Werknetz Architektur and the engineers from EBP Schweiz AG (EBP) the opportunity to explore the possibilities of their software. The result: excellent planning quality, functioning coordination in every phase and a construction period of only nine months.
Fabienne Zimmermann and Sebastian Sailer report about how Autodesk Revit and SOFiSTiK were able to overcome their challenges.
Special Constructions
Kuwait International Airport
Kuwait City | Kuwait
Kuwait's international airport will be expanded in 2022 by a new terminal building (Terminal 2) based on a design by Foster + Partners. The building was planned without expansion joints, despite an edge length of 1.2 km and a roof area of more than 320,000 m². The main structure consists of curved pre-stressed concrete parts with a maximum span of 145m. We are delighted about Werner Sobek AG presenting this ambitious project in a webinar.
