The highlights of version SOFiSTiK | 2024

Direct. Aligned. To the point.

The new SOFiSTiK Version 2024 focuses on the key competencies of SOFiSTiK such as parametrics, fast solvers, and seamless interfaces, delivering them to
your computer in a safe, fast and open manner. New technology for modeling complex 3D reinforcement models complements the powerful parametrics for the modeling of BIM and analytical models in bridge construction. Reinforcement of standard members in building construction can now be quickly inserted from intelligent reinforcement templates, saving valuable time. Additionally, the calculation and code checking from the BIM model become fully "BIM-ready" with automatic member labeling and the column design assistant. Thanks to extended functionalities of the Analytical Model Generator, users also benefit from an effortless coordination between the BIM model and the analytical model. For faster results in eigenvalue calculations, Ritz vector analysis and automatic time step selection for dynamic moving load trains are available. The new features are rounded off with cutting-edge learning materials, such as videos for the Reinforcement App "RC" and new FEA tutorials for dynamic train loads and cracked concrete slabs, facilitating the efficient use of SOFiSTiK.

    • Identify Coordination Issues between physical and analytical element
    • Identify Analytical Quality Issues between analytical elements
  • Updating the internal data storage scheme to support Revit models with Groups and for future extension of capabilities

BIM-ready Column Design Workflow - Efficiency meets Openness

  • Set Member Names in Revit automatically according to user-defined naming rules
  • Create 2D drawings for Member Name Overview with a few clicks
  • Member Names are compatible with other SOFiSTiK Workflows (SSD, SOFiPLUS and CADiNP)
  • Flexibly analyze slender walls as columns using design elements (DSLN)
  • Design all RC columns of one building at once with the SSD new task “Column Design Assistant”
  • Organize your columns in Design Groups
  • Use automatic and manually created load case combinations
  • Predefined Tables in the Result Table Assistant help to generate tables for column overview and design result evaluation with a few clicks
  • Summary-table for export to extern design tools

Dynamic Rebar Check in BIM Workflows

The new Rebar Check provides a dynamic color-coded representation of the required and provided reinforcement in a concrete slab element.

  • Live display of reinforcement quantities read from the BIM model (provided reinforcement) and from a SOFiSTiK data source (required reinforcement)
  • Display of reinforcement quantities either as surface values or along cut lines
  • Available in 2D and in 3D views of Revit
  • Automatic view optimization and advanced display settings
  • Display style fully customizable to local requiremens

Cornerstone features supporting smoother analyses of concrete slab

  • New tutorial explains workflow for cracked slab analysis (linear and non-linear) starting in SOFiPLUS and Autodesk Revit
  • Show calculated displacements directly in Revit
  • Visually compare the calculated required reinforcement with the drawn reinforcement in Revit

Seismic Tower – Seismic Performance of Multitower Skyscraper

Skyscrapers featuring more than one tower or split-level scenarios require special attention when assessing seismic performance. To perform a qualified and efficient seismic assessment based on storey criteria, grouping of storeys into independent entities - we call these Towers - is a prerequisite.

  • Modeling: Grouping of storeys into independent entities (Towers) in Revit and SOFiPLUS
  • Analysis: Consistent computation of tower associated storey results
  • Checks & Postprocessing: Tower-wise assessment of storey-based design criteria, extended visualization capabilities

Improved Shear Wall Design

  • New Standard SOFiSTiK Cross Section “Shear Wall” meets all design requirements
  • New general design method in addition to the C+T Method uses the proven SOFiSTiK design methods for beam (design) elements

Modeling Buildings

Rebar Templates

  • New tool to place rebars from a template in a selected target Revit component
  • Includes Rebar Template catalogs of various standard situations
  • Catalogs can easily be customized and extended
  • Template can be a host-specific reinforcement or a group of reinforcements at a connection

Reinforcement Browser

  • Overview of all reinforcement elements in one project
  • Contains rebars, fabrics, tendons, detail items and linear spacers – grouped by assignments
  • Helps to deal with warnings, locate elements in the 3D model and to understand connections between different elements
  • Includes search bar and filtering functions for efficient work processes

Efficent Assignment Organisation

  • Each project is divided into assignments. Assignments are Sheets, Hosts or SOFiSTiK_Members, where the reinforcement elements are assigned to
  • To optimize computing capacities and time, SOFiSTiK Reinforcement now only process assignments which are relevant for the current work session automatically when they get relevant
  • Users can see and control the loading status via the reinforcement browser

Getting Started Tutorial

  • New Tutorial series about the basic tools and workflows of Revit + SOFiSTiK Reinforcement
  • Ideal starting point for all users who have experience with formwork design in Revit and want to learn about reinforcement
  • Available on the online documentation and on YouTube in three languages: English, German and French
